The system of education in Mogilev region is stable, efficient and developing. Leonid Smotritsky, the head of the regional education office, stated the fact at the press-conference dedicated to the new school year issues. He proved it by striking facts.
The region is in active process of getting schools ready for a new school year. Br106 bln was allotted to repair regional schools. Sponsoring organizations and enterprises have also made a great contribution. By August, 20 special commissions of district executive committees must sign the acts of schools readiness to start a new school year. By today 70% of schools are ready to welcome pupils.
Leonid Smotritsky answered the questions dealing with kindergartens and their availability for kids. According to Leonid Smotritsky, the region is 109% supplied with kindergartens. At the same time there are problems, especially in Mogilev and Bobruisk. The fact is that most kindergartens are located in the areas inhabited by people whose children are grown-ups. New housing areas lack places in kindergartens. New kindergartens will be constructed in these housing areas. At the same time Bobruisk and Mogilev have plans to arrange special services of lifting kids to pre-school establishments located in distance.
In Leonid Smotritsky’s words, private pre-school establishments would definitely contribute to solving the problem. By the way, a private kindergarten for 20 kids has already been open in Oktyabrsky housing area of Mogilev this year.
The region is carrying out the work to optimize the system of educational establishments. This year 14 small village schools are either liquidated or given a new status. Leonid Smotritsky says that the actions of the kind need thorough consideration and careful approach: village schools are social and culture centres.
School food is also under special control. The region allots substantial money for school food. The sum is reconsidered every 3 months.
A new school year will bring school-leavers a state exam in a foreign language.
Inna Korotkevich, a deputy head of the Regional Trade and Services Office, provided information on sales of school assortment. 105 school assortment fairs including 25permanent fairs work in the region.
The region’s school assortment makes 130% to last year’s one. Taking into consideration quality and price priority is given to Belarusian manufactures.
To get a pupil ready for a new school year parents will need: Br1,080 m – Br1, 055 m (a primary school pupil); Br1,340 m - Br1,240 m (a basic school pupil); Br1,740 m - Br1,580 m (a high school pupil).
