The final third stage of the Republic of Belarus team championship in table tennis opens at “Olimpiets” sports complex in Mogilev on April 5, chief referee of the tournament told. 80 tennis players from all regions and Minsk city will come to Mogilev. The first age group consists of sportsmen born in 2000 – 2001, the second one - born in 2002 and younger.

Erbol Kalabaev, a sportsman from Mogilev, won a golden medal at the international Greco-Roman style tournament. The XV International Tournament named after the national hero of Italy Fedor Poletaev gathered a recording number of participants. 250 sportsmen from Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Armenia took part in the event in Ryazan.

Minsk held the draw ceremony of semifinal matches of the Handball Cup of Belarus. April, 19 holds women’s matches: BNTU (Minsk) – “Berezina” (Bobruisk), “Gorodnichanka” (Grodno) – “Gomel”. On April, 20 the winners will compete in the finals. The defeated will fight for the third place.

Belarus national team won silver at Summer Indoors Polyathlon World Cup that was held in Mogilev on January 24-27. The national team of Russia won the gold medal, while the bronze medal went to the team from Kazakhstan. These three teams showed the same results at the second stage of Winter Polyathlon World Cup that had been held in Mogilev on January 17-20.

Tennis players from Orenburg (Russia) won the XXXXIVth Tanya Karpinskaya Table Tennis International Tournament-Memorial. Eleven teams from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and Lithuania partook in the tournament.

Young sportsmen from Mogilev region won 25 medals at the XXXVIth Free-style Wrestling International Tournament in the name of the honourable citizen of Mogilev, the Hero of the Soviet Union, Nikolai Korolev. The competitions were held on October 30-31 at “Olimpiets” Sports Complex in Mogilev.

On August, 22 Igor Bokiy from Bobruisk Swimming School goes to London to take part in the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games. The Games are the fourteenth Paralympics and take place between 29 August and 9 September. The information is provided by the Sports and Tourism Ministry of Belarus.

On August, 22 Mogilev hosts unofficial match between women’s national football teams of Belarus and Latvia (“Spartak” stadium). The match starts at 6 p.m. Two days later the same teams play at “Spartak” stadium in Shklov; the match starts at 1 p.m.

The graduate of Bobruisk Olympic Reserve College Nikolai Novikov will change Andrei Aryamnov to participate in Olympic Games-2012 in London. Andrei Aryamnov, the Olympic weight-lifting champion of Beijing-2008 in body mass under 105 kg, aggravated the hip injury he got at the school sports contest in Borisov a month ago.

Oxana Menkova, an Olympic champion of Beijing-2008, set a new Belarus record for hammer throwing (78.69 m) during International track-and-field championship held in Minsk to commemorate the Belarusian athletes. This year it has been the second time when the sportswoman renewed the national record.

Mogilev region team won bronze at Trampolining Belarus championship held at Mogilev State College of Olympic Reserve on July 6-7. Gold medal was won by Vitebsk team, silver medal – by Gomel team.

5 gold medals and 6 bronze medals were won by judoists from Mogilev region during the tournament organized in memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union Andrei Melnikov. The tournament was held within June 29 - July 1 at “Olimpiets” sports complex in Mogilev.

June, 29 – July, 1 Mogilev holds the XIX Judo Tournament in memory of Andrey Melnikov, the Hero of the Soviet Union, the internationalist soldier. Sportsmen born in 1993-1995 from Belarus, Russia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and the Netherlands will take part in the tournament. 180 sportsmen of 17-19 years old will compete at the sports Complex “Olimpiets”.
