Mogilev finished the regional art festival “Vyasyolkavy karagod” with a big concert. This year the forum has celebrated its tenth anniversary. During the school year education establishments for children with psychophysical peculiarities, disabled children, orphans arranged selection in two directions: amateur performances and decorative and applied arts. The winners took part in district and town contests. The final concert was held on May, 21. 280 children took part in amateur performances. 440 children’s works were presented.

The XIII International Children’s Arts Festival “Golden Bee” is to extend its format. May, 29 – June, 2 the event takes place in Klimovichi. The information is provided by the regional culture office.

XX International festival of spiritual music “Mighty Bozha” will be held in Mogilev on June 24-28, a source from the festival’s organisational committee informed. Guests from the CIS and other foreign countries, including the USA, will take part in conferences, meetings, concerts, vocal and choral contest.

In 2013 Mogilev will first host “Maslennikovskie Kolyadki” music and theatre festival. Museum batleika theatres will take part in the first in Belarus international festival of the kind organized by Mogilev Regional Maslennikov Arts Museum. January, 24-26 Gorki holds the National Sports Art Students’ Festival “The Youth – hope and future of Belarus”. The information is provided by Yulia Vanina, a press-secretary of the Education Ministry.

October 25-31 Mogilev hosts “Turovskaya Osen” (Turov Autumn) Cinema Week. The event is dedicated to the memory of Victor Turov, our famous fellow-countryman, the film director and script writer, the People’s Artist and Honoured Culture Worker of Belarus.

More than 3500 artists will partake in concerts during “Dazhynki-2012” Republican Festival of agricultural workers, hosted by Gorki town this year. The information was provided by the head of Mogilev region executive committee’s culture department Anatoly Sinkovets.

Mogilev branch of the Belarusian State Music Academy got the Grand Prix of the Festival “Magutny Bozha”. The academic chorus is headed by Irina Pekarskaya. The festival also awarded the winners with $1 500.

The agenda of celebrations dedicated to the 625th birthday of Bobruisk will include the Xth International Folk Festival “Venok Druzhby”. Bobruisk has hosted the Festival since 2003. The Folk Festival was initiated by Mogilev region executive committee and Bobruisk town executive committee together with the Ministry of Culture.

April, 10-12 Mogilev’s citizens will be able to see the films of the Golden Manhattan Short Film Festival Collection 2009-2011. The information is provided by the Company “Kinovideoprokat”. The program of the event includes 10 films of different genres: experimental films, animations, fictions, musicals.

There was traditional full house at opening ceremony of “M@rt.contact - 2012” VII International youth theatre festival that was held at Mogilev Drama Theatre. Some were lucky to have standing room near the doors or sit on the steps near the stage.

March, 1 Mogilev holds the Choral Art Festival “Molodye Golosa” (“Young Voices”). The event takes place at Mogilev Children’s Art School №1. The Festival welcomes groups representing children’s art schools of the region. The first day of the Festival will give the performance by Mogilev State Art Gymnasium-College, Rimsky-Korsakov Music College and the branch of the Belarusian State Music Academy.

The XII International Music Festival “Zolotoi Shlyager-2011” held its closing ceremony.

September, 9 famous Belarusian artists whose biography is closely connected with Mogilev region took part in the final performance of the festival – Inna Afanasiyeva, Irina Dorofeyeva, Iskui Abalyan, Ruslan Alekhno, Petr Elfimov, Alena Lanskaya, Ivan Buslai, Vitaly Gordei, Victor Pshenichny, Pavel Usovich, Elena Materinko, the theatre-studio “Raduga”.

In September Elena Kononkova consolidated her success at international literature contests. The teacher of the Russian language and literature of Mogilev secondary school № 38 won in “Russian literature connoisseur” nomination at “Living word” international multimedia festival.

Glusk opened the XI Family Arts Festival “Suzorye Talentau” (Constellation of Talents). The festival welcomed family vocal, dance, theatre and instrumental groups, arts and crafts studios from Mogilev region, Russia and Ukraine.

The program of the festival includes various competitions and games. The fish soup cooking contest is also included. Participants of the forum will give concerts in agri-townships of the district.

Mogilev regional OSVOD organization won the first open championship in fish soup cooking. The information is provided by Sergey Kulyagin, a chief organizer of the festival “Big Bard Fishing” on the Chigirinskoye water storage.

August, 4-7 the Chigirinskoye water storage (Bykhov district) held the second inter-regional festival “Big Bard Fishing”. The festival welcomed fans of healthy way of life, active rest and authors’ songs. Guests from Belarus, Smolensk, Moscow, Snt Petersburg, Kiev and Odessa took part in it.

August, 26-27 Glusks hosts the XI regional festival of family arts “Suzorie Talentau” (“Constellation of Talents”). Families from all over Mogilev region will take part in the event. Guests from Russia, Ukraine and Slovenia are also expected to participate.

Olga Draneva, a director of the centralized club system of Glusk Town, the program of the festival includes a number of contests: a music and song contest, dance and drama competitions, a decorative and applied arts contest and an arts contest, fishing competition. This year the festival introduces a new contest dealing with presentation of a rushnik (Belarusian national towel) as a symbol of the family.

Guests of the II inter-regional music and sports festival “Great Bard Fishing” will be welcomed by the mythical characters Signing Crucian and Golden Fish. The festival takes place at “Peschany Bereg” Farmstead in Bykhov district on August, 5-7.

On July 16-17 Mstislavl again hosts “Knights' Fest-2011” medieval culture festival.

A diverse cultural programme has been worked out for visitors of the festival, ranging from “Handicrafts’ town” where one can buy adornments and other works by skilled craftsmen, to fire shows and fireworks. Besides, a number of guided tours to historical places of Mstislavl have been worked out.

Alena Lanskaya from Mogilev won “Vitebsk-2011” Grand Prix of $15,000. During the awarding ceremony held at Vitebsk regional philharmonics the winner was also given a special prize “Lira”, and the Grand Prix diploma of the XX International pop song performers contest Vitebsk-2011 that was held within the framework of the international arts festival Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk.

The first prize went to Vladimir Kvasnitsa from Ukraine. He got $9,000, a special prize Lira and the I premium diploma.

The second prize and $6,000 was shared by Ruta, a student of the Lithuanian Music Academy and TV presenter, and David Deyl, a composer and pianist from Czechia. They got special prizes Lira and the II premium diplomas.
