About 90 representatives of Poland will honour the memory of soldiers died at the battle of Lenino, Gorki district. The event is dedicated to the 69th anniversary of the First Polish Infantry Division’s baptism of fire.

The seventh auto rally starts on July 20 in Minsk; this year it is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the 68th anniversary of Belarus liberation from German-fascist invaders.

2012 celebrates the two-hundred-year anniversary of the Victory at the Patriotic War of 1812. The Russian Army’s military actions to fight Napoleon’s soldiers left the traces in the history of Shklov. On October, 10 1812 Denis Davydov’s Cossacks headed by lieutenant colonel Hrapovitsky defeated French soldiers in Shklov.

On June, 22 the memorial complex “Buinichskoye pole” holds the youth’ patriotic action “The Bell of Sorrow”. The action is dedicated to the Memory Day of the victims of the Great Patriotic War. The event is arranged by the regional BRSM organization and the Orthodox eparchies of Mogilev and Bobruisk.

The searching group “Obelisk” from Bobruisk was allowed to continue diggings which resulted in discovering remains of 11 Red Army soldiers died in 1941 in Bobruisk’s battle with the fascists.

Collected memoirs about the Great Patriotic War will be published by Mogilev State University of Food Technologies

Collected memoirs of participants or eyewitnesses of the Great Patriotic War will be published by Mogilev State University of Food Technologies. The memoirs have been collected by University students and teachers. The book will consist of a number of touching and heroic stories and will have the circulation of 100 copies. The book will have been presented by July 3 – Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.

Krugloye to immortalize Colonel Kutuzov

The war of 1812 will soon celebrate its 200th anniversary. In November 1812 the land owned by the count Vorontsov was a site of Colonel Kutuzov’s headquarters. To immortalize this fact Krugloye Township will open a memorial plaque.

A memorial plaque commemorating the soldiers of infantry division №160 was opened in Chaussy. The delegation from Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia partook in the opening ceremony. The plaque is situated at the railway station, where forward echelons from Gorki division arrived in July of 1941, and almost at once were brought into actions.

Monument to Leonid Ivanov – both tribute and call for honour and dignity – I.Shardyko

The bronze bas-relieved monument to Leonid Ivanov, the People’s Artist of Belarus, was opened at the Paskovskoye cemetery. The author of the monument is the famous Mogilev architect Kornei Alekseyev.

Remains of three soviet soldiers perished during WWII re-buried in Slavgorod

Remains of three soviet soldiers perished during the World War II were re-buried in Slavgorod. The name of one of them – Khachik Samuilovich Chekhikian from Maikop - was found out with the help of his medallion.

Before this Khachik Chekhikian had been on the list of missing persons. Now the place and time of his death is known: 1941, suburbs of Slavgorod. He was found holding a revolver in the hand; cartridges, boots, helmet, a gas mask, and a digging tool laid nearby.

A grandson of K. Chekhikian’s brother – Sergei Chekhikian came from Samara to partake at the re-burring ceremony. Representatives of the Armenian diaspora and the Embassy of Armenia in the Republic of Belarus also came to give the last honours to the soldier.

Students of Mogilev State University of Food Technologies laid flowers to the memorial complex “Zemlyanka”

Today the students’ working group named after K.Simonov laid flowers to the memorial complex “Zemlyanka”. The group is represented by the students of Students of Mogilev State University of Food Technologies.

Here on July, 1 1941 the Headquarters of the West Front worked a plan of defense of the Deneprovsky line and Mogilev. The main goal was to create necessary conditions to regroup the Soviet army with help of the Red Army soldiers, home guards, militiamen.

Guard of honour take over watch of memory in Mogilev

Today the guard of honour has taken over the watch of memory near Eternal Fire in Sovetskaya square and at “Buinichi Field” Memorial Complex. This day was chosen because on June 28, 1944 Mogilev was liberated from German invaders as a result of “Bagration” operation.

 

Honoured doctor of BSSR K. Bakhanovich’s memorial board be placed at building of Mogilev regional hospital

The honoured doctor of BSSR Konstantin Bakhanovich’s memorial board will be placed at the building of Mogilev regional hospital. K. Bakhanovich was the founder and the first chief doctor of the hospital during 27 years.

K. Bakhanovich made great contribution to hospital’s development; thus, he initiated opening of 20 specialized departments there, founded a polyclinic admitting 500 patients a day, and medical-organizing centre.

Thanks to his managerial skills Mogilev regional hospital soon became one of the best modern medical establishments of the republic.

“Grief bells” patriotic action on June 22 in Mogilev region

On June 22 Mogilev region holds “Grief bells” patriotic action; it’s slogan is “Stop, stop talking, listen to grief bells, think of the perished, remember of their heroic deeds in the name of future generations”.

The action is initiated by the regional committee of non-governmental organization “BRYU” together with Mogilev and Bobruisk eparchies of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the regional department of the Belarusian World Fund supported by youth department of Mogilev region executive committee.

Mortal remains and pieces of personal belongings of Red Army’s soldier from Chelyabinsk region found at forest near Kadino villa

Now we know the name of one brave defender of Mogilev. Mortal remains and pieces of personal belongings of the Red Army’s soldier from Chelyabinsk region Semion Fedorov were found at the forest near Kadino village of Mogilev district. Specialists also found Fedorov’s waist belt, pieces of cartridge pouch, a water bottle and a spool of thread.

During the last 25 years mortal remains of 38 soldiers have been found in this forest; only the names of 5 of them are known. In 1941 it was the place where the 110 rifle battalion and the 20 corps of the Red Army were encircled after the break-through of Mogilev defence. No one survived at that terrible battle.

Semion Fedorov will be reburied at Buinichi Field.
