June, 14-16 Mogilev holds the championship and competition of Belarus in triathlon. The Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism office of Mogilev regional administration informs that about 100 triathlon sportsmen and amateurs representing all parts of Belarus and Minsk City will take part in the event.

Footwear designers of Mogilev’s «ShagoVita» have worked out a new children’s footwear collection “Spring-Summer 2014”. The visitors and participants of the 56th International exhibition «Mosshoes-2013» that took place in Moscow were the first to see the collection.

Mogilev’s registry office registered a two-thousand baby born this year. Today his parents will get a special certificate proving this honorary fact. Olga and Nikolai Saulyak named their boy Nikolai. The baby was born on May, 31 2013. His height is 51 cm, weight – 3,490 g. Mogilev keeps to a birth increase tendency. Last year 4,634 babies were born.

Famous Mogilev artist Yuri Nesteruk became the winner of Zabor art-project held in the regional centre. “Twenty artists partook in the contest; four of them had already reached the final”, - the director of the art-project Antonina Serebryakova told. “Choosing a winner wasn’t an easy task, as far as each participant is a mature artist, working in different trends of modern art. But there could be only one winner, and it was Yuri Nesteruk”.

Mogilev as the culture capital of Belarus and the CIS arranged the project “History canvas in a graffiti style”. The picture 60 m long and 3 m high appeared on the concrete wall of “Vesnyanka” Company.

Cuba and the Belarusian city of Mogilev are interested in setting up a joint enterprise to produce lifts together. The statement was made by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Alfredo Nieves Portuondo at the meeting with the Chairman of Mogilev City Executive Committee Vladimir Tsumarev.

The III plain air “Stone Fairy Tale” in Mogilev will gather sculptors and architects from six countries. The event takes place on May, 30 – July, 1. The theme of the plain air is “Peace. Beauty. Harmony”. The information is provided by Tatiana Tolkacheva, the senior specialist of Mogilev regional culture office.

“Kamennaya Skazka” (“Stone Fairy Tale”) plein air in sculpture in stone will be revived in the regional centre. It was last held in 2004. Ten sculptors and architects from six countries will take part in this year’s plein air on June 30 – July 3.

On May 24 Mogilev “Spartak” hosts the tenth game of the football tournament “Belarusbank championship of the Republic of Belarus – 2013, major league”. The local football club “Dnieper” will play with “Naftan” from Novopolotsk. The match starts at 7 p.m.

New works producing folding furniture is to be set up by Mogilev “Olsa” this year, the source at the enterprise informed. The enterprise has signed the contract with the Italian firm for delivering a high-volume production line and eight assembly stands. The capacity of the automated manufacturing will make up about 40,000 items a month. The new line will be assembled at “Tekhnopribor” plant that has recently become affiliated with “Olsa”.

Mogilev finished the regional art festival “Vyasyolkavy karagod” with a big concert. This year the forum has celebrated its tenth anniversary. During the school year education establishments for children with psychophysical peculiarities, disabled children, orphans arranged selection in two directions: amateur performances and decorative and applied arts. The winners took part in district and town contests. The final concert was held on May, 21. 280 children took part in amateur performances. 440 children’s works were presented.

May, 24-26 Mogilev’s “Olympiets” hosts a qualification tournament of the World Women’s Volleyball Championship. The national teams from Belarus, Denmark, Israel and Finland will take part in the event. Matches begin at 15.30 and 18.00.

On May 20-24 Mogilev hosts Italian films week. The films to be shown in the original with Russian subtitles are “Generazione mille euro”, “Scontro di civiltà per un ascensore a Piazza Vittorio”, “Notte prima degli esami - Oggi”.

The World School Chess Championship finished in Porto Carras (Greece). More than 500 boys and girls in six age groups representing 42 countries partook in it. Belarus was represented by six chess players.

Today it is hard to believe but the railway station in Mogilev used to be located far from the city and the residents thought it to be uncomfortable to reach. The main means of transportation was a cab. The most popular route for draymen was “Railway station – city centre – steamship landing stage”. But there were also other routes connecting the railway station, Mogilev’s markets, the steamship landing stage and vicinity (Lupolovo, Tishovka). The route connecting the railway station and the Bykhovsky market existed even after the Great October Revolution.

Czech and Slovakia Films Days will be held in Mogilev on May 15-19. There will be films in original languages with the Russian subtitles for different tastes and age groups.

On May 4 Mogilevers will look for a BRYU’s star in the sky over the regional centre, Pavel Alexo, fulfilling the duties of the first secretary of Mogilev region committee’s of the BRYU told.

April, 28 over 150 people will take part in the opening ceremony of a bicycle season in Mogilev. For the fourth time Mogilev bicycle expeditions club holds the mass event of the kind. The number of participants is increasing year by year. This year spring has arrived later than usual but the organizers have decided not to postpone the run.

Taking the initiative of the new mayor of Mogilev Vladimir Tsumarev, city administration will suggest young graffitists to use their creative ideas to the good of public instead of making obscure drawings on the walls. The regional centre will hold the festival “History canvas in graffiti style” where amateurs of graffiti will have opportunity to show their best.

In the third round of Belarus football championship “Dnieper” (Mogilev) defeated one of the main leaders of the championship - “Dinamo” (Minsk). Having returned to the major league after a one-year break, Mogilev football players showed their best and won 2:0.
